Pat myself on the back? Never. Toot my own horn? Pssh, forget it.
But having a post on the Vendr TV blog .. that’s just too cool.
I’ve always been a fan of Dan Delaney’s journeys through the world of street food, and jumped at the opportunity to help contribute to the $10 A Day challenge.
It also gave me a good reason to finally check out Jersey City’s Louisiana Spice Truck, and revisit my favorite mobile mexican vendor, The Taco Truck.
Many thanks to editor and Stupidly Simple Snack’r Amy Cao for letting me be apart of this cool project.
Anycrap, hope you enjoy the article. And any new visitors my blog, thanks for clicking. I promise (especially to my sister, a dedicated reader) more posts soon!

How did Hobokenites spend Thanksgiving Weekend’s gorgeous Saturday afternoon? Waiting patiently in line to get into Carlo’s Bake Shop, perchance to catch a cannoli from Cake Boss himself, Buddy Valastro. People curled around the block, armed with cell phone cameras and point-and-shoots. I’m guessing this will be the norm from now until Christmas. Verizon, Ruggerio Realty, and El Barrios Burritos can either thank the bakery for the added exposure, or curse at the human baracades blocking their doors.

My sister wanted to see Buddy, but, like me, was not willing to wait in this massive line to do it. I’ll see him on TLC.

I’m no Chinese food snob. Sure, I am Chinese. And yes, I do enjoy Chinese food more often than others. I’ll eat the greasy, hole-in-the-wall place and enjoy it just like anyone else. Despite this, my meal from Aroma did not impress me one bit, especially considering it’s supposed to be one of the more “premium” Chinese places in Hoboken.

On most nights, Pete and I will walk home together after work from the PATH to our apartments in Southwest Hoboken. On one chilly evening, we caught a glimpse of an orange truck driving towards the riverfront, with “Tacos Straight From the Truck” written in bright white lettering on the side. Sadly, it drove so fast that I wasn’t able a chance to catch the name. My Sherlock-esque detective skills kicked into gear. 1) the vehicle appeared to be large, almost truck-like; 2) according to their marquee, they specialized in the Mexican dish known as tacos. After several nights of grueling deductions (and a minor hint from a Twitter-friend), the identity of the mystery mobile eatery was clear: The Taco Truck. And believe you me: all the sleuthing paid off in delicious taco-y goodness.

Stopped this morning at JP Bagel Express near the Hoboken PATH station. I normally avoid this spot, as the bagel’s are only so-so, and rather pricey ($2.50+ with cream cheese). My appetite, as in most cases, got the best of me. I went with the standard sausage, egg, and cheese on a poppy roll. And wouldn’t you know, I got a standard, so-so sandwich, featuring regular patty-style sausage, and un-melted cheese (honestly? It’s not tough to melt it down…). They used real egg, and the roll was fluffy and had a decent crust. Though no outstanding flavor, certainly nothing worth repeating.

Ad for TLC’s Cake Boss, featuring Hoboken’s beloved Buddy Valastro and “Carlo’s Bakery”. Honestly: you see the word “porn” and that mug… are you really going to click?
