Introducing Samantha Young, Resident Experimental Vegetarian

This is Sam.  She is my girlfriend.  I love her very much.

And I love meat.  I love chicken and ribs very much.  The two share a common trait: I cannot live without them.  This is why she must shoulder this journey alone.

Sam is going to abandon eating meat for an entire month.  30 days without steak and bacon, the number one and two of her favorite foods respectively.  Over the weekend, we watched Food, Inc., a documentary on the horrors plaguing the current general food industry.  I highly recommend anyone who’s interested in learning about where the things on their plates came from go out and rent.

This weekend, we bought more organic foods, and made it a goal to improve our outlook on food.  Part of this was her challenging herself to be a vegetarian for a month.  She’s not a radical animal activist, but wants to cleanse herself of the guilt from carnivorous eating… for a short period of time.

Along the way, she’ll be documenting the experience in this blog.  You’ll read the benefits, hardships, recipes, and thoughts of temporary vegetarian first hand.  It should be an interesting month.

Oh, me? I’ll be busy bathing in beef stock, eating bacon wrapped bacon sandwiched between a porterhouse and chicken cordon bleu.  I love meat.  But, I assure you, it’ll be all grain fed, free range!
